Like many, I was active as a child and teen both in hobbies and sports. I was a high school varsity athlete in Football, Ice Hockey and Lacrosse. As a busy athlete and student, I had a hard time getting adequate sleep, and I began to suffer from frequent respiratory infections.
I stopped playing sports in college. My dorm food staples of soda and chicken quesadillas started to catch up with me in a “big” way. I went from 205 as a senior in high school to 273 as a sophomore in college. As a student of philosophy I was “in my head” all the time, and the more my body let me down, the more I began to live only in my head. I continued to have long bouts of respiratory infections and ended up in the hospital in 2001 with double pneumonia. This was a wake up call. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, high triglycerides and was considered at high risk for type 2 diabetes. The CPAP machine helped my sleep quality, and the prescriptions brought my values into acceptable ranges, but my energy and sense of well-being remained low.
Of course, I was told that losing weight would help my health. I would have spurts of resolve, and would sometimes exercise for two hours at a time. I was constantly on the scale to see what effect my training would have. This was always a disappointment. A cyclical (and frustrating!) pattern continued for years as I struggled with food, motivation, inconsistent results, and training techniques.
Then I found Crossfit. Through Crossfit, and my other research, I learned to perform movements correctly, to scale them for my ability, and discovered recovery and nutrition were critical to success. I began to make changes in my training, diet and lifestyle. That’s when things finally “clicked” for me. I experienced first-hand that in order to be truly fit, you need to find balance between your body, your mind, your lifestyle, and your relationships.
I am a certified Crossfit trainer and am continuing my education with James “OPT” Fitzgerald. His approach to fitness is holistic and cutting edge, and complements my own experiences and philosophy. He has worked with elite athletes in the art and science of optimal performance, and I share his passion for helping people realize their potential.

Hi! I love working with people through massage. I consider it a great honor to facilitate physical and mental stress reduction, give care to sore (and sometimes cranky) muscles, and see progression in people’s physical goals.
I’ve been practicing massage since 1998. I attended Utah College of Massage Therapy in Salt Lake. I also have a BA in International Relations from Randolph-Macon Woman’s college. I spent 10 years living and working in the Vail Valley, and love to get to the mountains when I can.
My primary passion is working with people on a holistic level. Over the years I’ve distilled my massage to a fluid, therapeutic style. I like integrating pure essential oils into the treatments, and might even refer you to a yummy tea for herbal support. In addition to massage, I can often be found with a camera, finding the beautiful in the everyday details of life.
I look forward to working with you! Cheers. Liz
